NORAD Intercepts Two Russian Bombers
Canadian and American fighter jets intercepted two Russin Tu-142 Bear aircraft the neared Alaskan airspace on Monday.
The Russian aircraft remained 92 kilometres, of the Alaskan coast. At no time did the aircraft enter Canadian or American airspace. But the aircraft did remain in the area for about four hours.
NORAD says Canadian CF-18s and American F-22 fighter jets "escorted" the Russain aircraft for their duration.
An air-to-air refueller was also required.
On Saturday the Royal Air Force scrambled six fighter jets to intercept Russian aircraft that were nearing British airspace.
