Nominations Open for St. John’s 2026 Applause Awards

The City of St. John’s is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Applause Awards, which recognize individuals, groups and organizations that make meaningful contributions to the community.


Mayor Danny Breen said the annual awards highlight the leadership, creativity and service that help shape the city’s character and long-term success.


Nominations are open in nine award categories, including arts and culture, athletics, climate change leadership, heritage, housing design, tourism, volunteering, youth leadership and senior contributions to the community.


The newly introduced Arts and Culture Awards include two categories: Artist of the Year and Arts Organization or Group of the Year.


Other categories include Athletes of the Year; Climate Change Leadership Awards; the Councillor Debbie Hanlon Award for Senior of the Year; Heritage Awards; Innovative Housing Design Award; Tourism Awards; Volunteer of the Year; and Youth of the Year.


Residents can review eligibility criteria and submit nominations online at the city’s website. The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. No extensions will be granted.
