Nominations are now open for the 2026 Derrick Bragg Leadership Award, recognizing excellence in municipal administration across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Municipal and Community Affairs Minister Chris Tibbs announced the call for nominations on Friday, encouraging communities to put forward candidates who demonstrate strong leadership and commitment to public service.
The award, created in partnership with the Professional Municipal Administrators of Newfoundland and Labrador, honours the legacy of Derrick Bragg and is presented annually to individuals working in municipal government.
Eligible nominees include town clerks, town managers, town clerk/managers and chief administrative officers who have made significant contributions to their municipalities and the broader municipal sector.
The 2026 award will be presented at the association’s Fall Forum in October.
The inaugural recipient, announced in November 2025, was Lizeta Gould, town manager for Port au Choix. Gould was recognized for her leadership, commitment to inclusion and dedication to community development.
Nominations for this year’s award must be submitted by May 20. More information on the nomination process is available through the provincial government.
