No serious injuries following significant rear-end collision in Mount Pearl, Monday evening.
The collision occurred on Commonwealth Avenue near the intersection with Whiteley Drive at about 5:00 p.m.. The driver of a northbound pickup truck rear-ended a sedan, which collided head-on with a southbound SUV. The force of the collision caused extensive damage to the sedan, and moderate damage to both the truck and SUV.
The driver of the truck was assessed by paramedics at the scene but did not require transport to hospital. The lone driver of the SUV was reportedly to be unharmed but was assessed by paramedics at the scene. Reports from the scene, indicated that the driver and two children of the sedan that sustained significant damage were being assessed by paramedics and were later transported to hospital with unknown injuries.
Traffic was slowed in the area for roughly two and half hours, as tow truck crews worked on the scene to remove the damaged vehicles.
