NLESD suspends bus contract over safety concerns at several Metro schools

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District has suspended a bus contractor from several schools in the metro area over what it describes as "safety concerns" for students.

The NLESD says that while it is aware it will have a significant impact on families, following a review of the information available it could no longer permit the continuation of busing services.

There are 20 schools impacted by this move, which includes some alternate transportation services.

There is a contingency plan in place to provide student transportation to those schools impacted. For the interim period, families are being asked to make arrangements for transportation to and from school.
