NL to eliminate most COVID-19 restrictions in March, 179 new cases reported


Today there are 179 new cases of COVID-19.


Regional breakdown:

  • Eastern Health 113

  • Central Health 20

  • Western Health 34

  • Labrador-Grenfell Health 12

There are 16 people in hospital.


There have been 178 new recoveries leaving 1,696 active cases.


Since yesterday there have been three more deaths in the province.


Dr. Fitzgerald says by March 14 the vax pass will no longer be required and masks will not be required.


On February 21 informal gatherings of 25 people are permitted, with the vax pass faith-based gatherings of 75% capacity is permitted. There will be no restrictions at retail stores. Gyms and restaurants are permitted 75% capacity. Border control and travel restrictions will be dropped on February 28.


Dr. Fitegerald stresses that these new measures are not a response to the protests but based on science.
