Newfoundland Power customers in this province will be receiving a credit on their bills in July.

The company received permission to add credit to the bills.

No application is required for customers to receive the credit.

The credits were announced back in May that due to the lower cost of fuel, the company saved money.

The actual amount of your credit will not be known until your July 2020 billing date.

The amount of the credit a customer will receive will vary based on usage:

  • On average, a residential customer that uses electricity as their primary source of heat using an average of approx. 1,500 kWhs of electricity each month would receive a credit of around $145.

  • On average, a residential customer without electricity as their primary heat source using an average of approx. 900 kWhs of electricity each month would receive a credit of around $85.

  • Due to wide variability in usage for business customers, the amount of credit will vary significantly.
