Today, Lieutenant Governor Joan Marie Aylward will host the annual New Year's Day Levee at Government House.
The free event is open to the public and takes place between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Entertainment will be provided by the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Band Jazz Combo and The Celtic Fiddlers, and refreshments will be served.
A New Year's Levee is a Canadian tradition, originating from King Louis XIV's court, where leaders hold an open house on New Year's Day or January for the public.
