Construction is set to begin immediately on a new, state-of-the-art fire station located at 371 Main Road, following the recent awarding of the construction contract. This modern facility promises to significantly enhance emergency services and support the City's commitment to sustainability.

The new station is designed to provide firefighters with a highly functional, comfortable, and well-equipped environment. Key features will include three drive-through apparatus bays, essential kitchen and living areas, dedicated sleeping quarters, and comprehensive training facilities. Additionally, the building will house administrative spaces to support daily operations.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts during construction are anticipated to be minimal, though residents should be aware of potential occasional delays as crews work to bring this vital project to fruition. A significant aspect of the new station's design is its adherence to a Passive House Standard. This commitment to environmentally friendly and energy-efficient construction is expected to not only reduce operating costs but also contribute positively to the City's overarching sustainability goals. The community looks forward to the completion of this essential upgrade to its emergency infrastructure.
