New funding for Artificial Intelligence Centre at MUN
The federal and provincial governments along with Memorial University have provided $1,925,000 in investments supporting a new Centre for Artificial Intelligence at Memorial University.
The funding is split with the federal government providing $995,000, the provincial government providing $432,000, and Memorial University contributing $498,000.
The funding will enable the hiring of four new term faculty positions and the completion of a 1,500-square-foot classroom and active learning space on the fifth floor of the new Science Facility. It will be shared with other AI- and computing-related groups at the university.
Three new master's programs are being offered in artificial intelligence, data science and software engineering.
