New Date Announced for Municipal General Election

There is a new date for the Municipal General Election next year.

The Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs has changed the date from September 30, 2025, to October 2, 2025.

The reason for the change is to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

General elections are held every four years on the last Tuesday in September. In 2025, this date coincides with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour survivors and raise awareness about the terrible legacy of residential schools in Canada.
