New affordable rental housing development planned for St. John’s

A new affordable rental housing development is set to move forward in St. John’s, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Tuesday.

Housing Minister Chris Tibbs, who also serves as minister of Social Supports and Well-Being, is expected to take part in the ceremony at 100 Churchill Avenue at 9 a.m.

Tibbs will be joined by federal Fisheries Minister and St. John’s East MP Joanne Thompson, along with members of the Avalon Housing Trust.

The development is expected to add new affordable rental homes to the city as the province continues efforts to increase access to housing.
