New Adult Mental Health & Addictions Hospital Announced


Premier Dwight Ball announced that Avalon Healthcare Partnership has been selected to design, build, finance and maintain a new adult mental health and addictions hospital for the province.


The new hospital will be a six-story, 102-bed hospital. It will also feature a 60-bed hostel to replace the Agnes Cowan Hostel, a parking garage for 1,000 vehicles, and modern features, like an art studio and a therapeutic mall terrace.


Ball said that the facility will be built by Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. Once complete, the hospital will also be maintained by Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
