Emergency crews responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision on Southern Shore Highway between Goulds and Bay Bulls, just before 10:00 a.m on Saturday.

Upon arrival, Emergency personnel located muiltple vehicles that had collided in a near head-on collision and rear-end collision. Reports from witnesses stated that, a female was attempting to do a u-turn in the middle of the highway, in whiteout conditions, when a oncoming pickup truck crashed into the front of the SUV, causing it to spin around, seconds later another SUV lost control and crashed into the back of the pickup truck, while reportedly a oncoming vehicle from Bay Bulls lost control and slid into a nearby ditch. This information is yet to be confirmed by Police.

The RNC and RCMP closed Southern Shore Highway for approximately three hours, so crews could clear the scene and restore traffic in the area.

There were no serious injuries reported.
