Mount Pearl man charged after traffic stop reveals prohibited weapon

A 51-year-old Mount Pearl man was arrested and charged after police allegedly found brass knuckles inside a vehicle during a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon.
RNC officers were patrolling the Smallwood Drive area of Mount Pearl at approximately 1:45 p.m. on May 31 when they observed a vehicle being driven erratically.
Police conducted a traffic stop and, while speaking with the driver, allegedly discovered a set of brass knuckles inside the vehicle.
The man was arrested and taken to the St. John's lockup. He was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon, and breach of a firearms prohibition order.
Police also issued summary offence tickets for driving with an expired driver's licence and expired vehicle registration.
The vehicle was impounded.
