Mount Pearl home sustains extensive damage following evening fire on Thursday

A home in Mount Pearl sustained significant damage during a evening fire on Thursday.

Firefighters with the St John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) were called to Pumphrey Avenue, just after 8:30 p.m, for reports of a residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered light-to-moderate smoke coming from a two-story dwelling. Firefighters quickly layed an attack line, and established a supply line utilizing the primary engine on scene.

A short time later, firefighters discovered a fire within the home, and crews began to attack the fire, quickly knocking it down within minutes. It's unclear on to what was on fire, and or where the blaze was located within the home.

There were no injuries reported, however one individual was seen being taken on a stretcher to a nearby NL Health Services ambulance, it's unclear if they were transported to hospital.
