Mount Pearl employees head back to work


CUPE employees with the City of Mount Pearl have ratified a collective agreement.


The collective agreement is effective retroactively from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2026. It includes a wage increase and a signing bonus. CUPE says there were no concessions.


Employees are heading to work this morning.


Garbage collection will continue on the current schedule for the time being. The Summit Centre (fitness spaces and pool) will reopen on Sunday. Swimming lessons and fitness program registration dates will be posted within the following week.


Ice at The Glacier is being made for the upcoming season.


The standard services provided by animal control will return to their full operations as of Friday, September 30.


Over 200 workers were on strike in the city for 11 weeks. The strike impacted several services, in the city.
