A mobile CT scanner will temporarily handle some imaging appointments while a computed tomography machine is replaced at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s.

Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services says work to replace the CT scanner began Tuesday, March 10.

To reduce disruption to medical imaging services, a mobile CT unit is being installed near the Child Rehabilitation entrance at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre. Temporary modifications will be made to the entrance area to protect patients and staff from the elements while accessing the mobile unit.

Beginning Monday, March 30, outpatient CT appointments will be conducted in the mobile trailer. Patients are asked to review their appointment letters carefully for details and instructions and must register at the Janeway’s X-ray department when they arrive.

Visitors and staff are also advised to use the Janeway’s main entrance next to the emergency department while the work is underway. Signage will be posted to direct people to alternate entrances.
