Marystown Resident Pleads Guilty to Firearm-related Charges
Gerard Bonnell of Marystown has received a fine and hunting prohibition after an investigation by the Resource Enforcement Division of the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture.
Officers conducted an investigation into moose hunting and discharging a firearm within the community of Mooring Cove on the Burin Peninsula on October 9. In court in January Bonnell pled guilty to charges of discharging a firearm within 1,000 metres of a playground and not exercising reasonable care for the safety of others.
Bonnell was fined $1,000 and is prohibited from moose and caribou hunting for five years. The high-powered rifle used in the offence was forfeited to the Crown. An adult male moose was also seized.
