A 30-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman are facing firearms-related charges after police responded to reports of gunshots in Paradise on Saturday evening.

The RNC were called to the Carlisle Drive area at approximately 8:39 p.m. on June 27 after residents reported hearing four gunshots.

Officers searched the area, including a busy walking trail, and reported hearing additional gunfire while conducting their investigation.

Police located and arrested a man and a woman and seized a .22-calibre rifle along with ammunition.

The incident occurred near residential neighbourhoods, schools and heavily used walking trails.

The woman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The man was taken to the St. John’s city lockup and remains in custody pending a court appearance.
