Man with no driver's license flees from police during traffic stop

Just after midnight, the RNC attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a pickup truck in the area of Empire Avenue.

The operator of the truck fled from police. After a short pursuit, the truck came to a stop on Curling Street where the driver jumped out of the window and fled on foot.

Police engaged in a foot pursuit and arrested the driver on Codroy Place. The 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and was issued a ticket for having an expired driver’s license since 2013.

The vehicle was impounded by police and the accused was held to appear in court this morning.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are anticipated.
