A routine traffic stop in the west end of St. John’s led to the arrest of a 55-year-old man after officers discovered he had more than $30,000 in outstanding fines, a suspended driver’s license, and an active warrant for his arrest.

RNC officers made the stop at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon checking the driver’s record, officers found the significant unpaid fines and legal issues. The man was taken into custody and transported to city lockup, where he was held overnight to appear in Provincial Court the following day.

In addition to his arrest, the man was issued four summary offence tickets, and his vehicle was impounded.
