Man was arrested following assault at Bowering Park, Yesterday afternoon

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services responded when one of thier officers saw a male assaulting a female in the park, When Officers tried to walk up to the male but the male had other ideas and took of on foot into a trail system near by.

The officers caught up with the suspect on the trail, when the officers tried to put the male under arrest the male started fighting back and resistin, officers then had to use pepper spray to get the male under control.

The male was charged for assault with a weapon, assault, causing a disturbance, resisting arrest.
