On December 21, police responded to a home on Empire Avenue, where officers located the body of a male. Working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the death was determined to be a homicide.

The ongoing investigation resulted in the RNC requesting a warrant for the arrest of 47-year-old Douglas Yetman of St. John’s, on the following charges:

  • Murder

  • Disguised with Intent

  • Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence

  • Carelessly using a Firearm

  • Pointing a Firearm

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

  • Breaches of a Court Order and Firearm Prohibition Order

While the incident does not appear to have been random, Yetman is believed to be armed and dangerous. The RNC is advising the public not to approach Yetman and to report any possible sightings directly to police.

He is described as about 6’3” tall, weighing approximately 170 lbs and has blue eyes. He is missing a partial finger and has faded forearm tattoos.
