Man taken to hospital after fire in Corner Brook

Corner Brook RNC and the Corner Brook Fire Department responded to the report of smoke at 51 West Street on Monday morning.

A business owner at the building observed smoke in a stairwell.

First responders located a resident who was sleeping. The resident was removed from the upstairs dwelling and taken to hospital.

It was determined that there was an electrical issue with an appliance. The small fire was contained and damage was minimal.

Police do not believe the fire was deliberate nor do they have reason to suspect foul play.
