A 41-year-old man is facing several charges following an early morning incident involving an ATV on the CBS Highway in Conception Bay South.

Shortly after 1:20 a.m. on March 21, officers observed an ATV being operated along the highway. When police attempted to stop the driver, he allegedly fled at a high rate of speed.

Officers were able to get ahead of the ATV on Peacekeepers Way and bring the vehicle to a stop. Police say the driver then exited the ATV and attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

The man has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, impaired driving, failing to provide a breath sample, and resisting arrest. He was also issued tickets for driving with a suspended licence and operating an off-road vehicle outside of an approved area under the Off-Road Vehicles Act.

The ATV was seized, and the man was taken into custody to appear in court.
