On Monday afternoon, the RNC responded to a report of an intoxicated male jumping out into traffic on Bay Bulls Road, attempting to get cars to stop.
Police arrived and located the 22-year-old male, who was intoxicated and appeared to be having a mental health crisis.
The man was taken to hospital for help; however, the man became violent and aggressive and was no longer a candidate for treatment as threats to harm officers and staff continued.
The man then spat in an officer’s face and was quickly placed under arrest for assaulting a police officer.
The accused was conveyed to the city lock-up and held for his court appearance.
