Man deceased after house fire in Plate Cove West

An elderly man is deceased after a house fire in Plate Cove West just after midnight on Tuesday.

Bonavista RCMP, fire and emergency medical services attended the scene.

The residence was extensively damaged by fire and the elderly man, who was the lone occupant of the residence, was found deceased inside.

A neighbouring home received heat and smoke damage to a section of its siding.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been engaged and the investigation is continuing.
