Man dead after drowning in Witless Bay

A 57-year-old man is dead following a drowning in Witless Bay on Saturday evening.

RCMP along with the Witless Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a body found submerged in the water at a local swimming hole near Southside Track Road.

Emergency Medical Services attempted to resuscitate the man without success.

The man’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the investigation is continuing.
