One male deceased and two females sent to hospital following power line incident in Torbay Saturday night

St. John’s, NL) November 10, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) responded to a fatal electrocution in Torbay.


Just before 9 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 9), Operational Patrol Services responded to a report that a male had been electrocuted by a live wire in the area of Byrne’s Lane. Further information was received that there was a fire at the same location.


Upon arrival, officers observed a live wire emitting flames, and located a male who was unresponsive and deemed deceased by responding paramedics. Two females at the scene also sustained injuries and were taken to hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.


The RNC sends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.


The death is not believed to be suspicious. There were high winds reported in the area at the time
