Man charged with firearms offences in St. John's

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has charged a St. John’s man after he was found to be in possession of a firearm.
On Thursday afternoon, officers located 35-year-old James Halleran in the centre city area, who was wanted on outstanding warrants.
During a subsequent search, Halleran was found to be wearing body armour and officers located a .22 calibre rifle and ammunition.
Halleran is facing a list of charges, including:
Careless use of a firearm
Carrying a concealed weapon
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Possession of a weapon obtained by crime
Possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order
Contravention of use or storage of a firearm
Tampering with a serial number of a weapon
Three breaches of probation
Three counts of failing to appear
