The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says officers responded to a report of a stabbing at approximately 5:30 p.m. Monday.
A 37-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the scene on foot before police arrived. Officers searched the area and located the suspect at a residence on Valley Road at approximately 7 p.m., where he was arrested.
Gregg Musakanda is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, disguise with intent and break and enter.
The RNC's Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate and is working to establish a timeline of events leading up to the attack.
Police are asking anyone with information or video footage, including CCTV, dashcam or cellphone video, to contact the RNC at 709-637-4100.
