The RNC has laid charges in relation to a firearms-related event, which occurred in late February.

On February 25 officers were called to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s after receiving a report that a female had arrived with a gunshot wound.

A 20-year-old female was undergoing medical treatment.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old man from St. John’s was arrested on Sunday, June 26.

He has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and other firearms-related offences.

The accused was released from custody to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers.
