Man Charged Following Reported Assault in St. John’s

A 49-year-old man was arrested and charged after police responded to a report of an assault at a residence in the east end of St. John's on Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the home at approximately 2:36 p.m. on March 27, 2026. Upon arrival, police spoke with a woman who reported that her husband had assaulted both her and her son. The incident was witnessed by others.

Officers later located the suspect at a nearby business, where he was taken into custody without incident.

The man was charged with two counts of assault and one count of overcoming resistance by choking. He was held in custody to appear in court the following morning.
