RNC have charged a 45-year-old man following a series of incidents on Tuesday that began with a stolen vehicle and ended with multiple criminal charges.

Around 11:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the city’s centre. A short time later, police received another call reporting that a man driving a vehicle matching the same description had stolen fuel and other items from a downtown gas station.

Officers quickly located the vehicle in the centre city, but the driver refused to stop. The pursuit ended when police successfully brought the vehicle to a halt.

The man was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, flight from police, dangerous operation of a conveyance, and theft under $5,000. Police also believe the man was impaired by drugs at the time, but he refused to comply with testing and was charged with refusal to comply with a demand.

He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court.
