A 29-year-old man from Point of Bay is facing impaired driving charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a rollover crash in Botwood early Sunday morning.
Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP say officers responded to a report of a vehicle rollover on Fernwood Drive shortly after 3 a.m. on March 15. Members of the Botwood Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services also attended the scene.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was not located when officers arrived.
Investigators later attended the home of the vehicle’s registered owner and arrested the 29-year-old man for impaired operation. He was taken to the RCMP detachment where breath testing confirmed he was impaired, police said.
The man was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in June 2026. He is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams.
