Man arrested with several firearms offences in Bunyan’s Cove

Police have arrested 23-year-old Joshua Penney for several firearms offences after executing a search warrant in Bunyan’s Cove on Thursday.

When police searched the home they found a shotgun, quantities of prescription medications and pills, as well as drug paraphernalia and items consistent with drug trafficking.

The accused has been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Penney was under a lifetime firearms prohibition.

The investigation is continuing and drug trafficking charges are pending.
