Man arrested on 15 outstanding warrants attempts to evade capture in St. John's

The RNC searched the area of Mitchell Crescent in St. John's on Saturday evening looking for a man with 15 outstanding warrants.


The 39-year-old man was located asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle and when he was approached by officers, he tried to flee the area with no luck.


After a struggle with officers, the man was taken into custody on the 15 outstanding warrants and several new charges.


The new charges include impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, dangerous operation, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and breach of probation.


He was also given three Summary Offence Tickets.


The man was taken to hospital for injuries.
