At about 9:30 p.m. on Monday, the RNC responded to a hit and run in the west end of St. John’s.

Approximately 40 minutes later, a single vehicle collision was reported on the same road. Upon arrival, the vehicle was unoccupied; however, officers determined it to be the same vehicle involved in the earlier hit and run.

Officers located the 37-year-old male driver, and he was charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous operation, impaired driving and over 80. He was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle, driving without a driver’s license, failing to transfer ownership, and open liquor in a vehicle.

The accused was held to appear in court.
