The RCMP arrested 30-year-old Justin Mills on Wednesday evening after a traffic stop in Grand Falls-Windsor.
When officers conducted the traffic stop on Union Street, they located a shotgun, without a trigger lock, in the front of the truck between the driver's seat and center console.
One of the passengers in the truck attempted to hide underneath a blanket in the back seat. Police determined that Mills was on an order to have no contact with that individual.
Mills also does not have a licence to possess a firearm.
The truck was seized and impounded and Mills is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, and breach of a release order.
