Man arrested following firearms offences in Labrador City

The RNC in Labrador West made an arrest in connection to firearms offences in Labrador City on Wednesday.

On Wednesday evening police were called to Tamarack Drive. Information was received that a 32-year-old man may be driving in the area with a loaded firearm accessible.

Responding officers located and contained the vehicle in the area of Tamarack Drive Extension. Members engaged with the man and deployed a Crisis Negotiator.

After some time, the incident reached a peaceful conclusion and the man was taken into custody. There were no injuries.

The accused has been charged with careless use of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The public was asked to avoid the area on Wednesday evening.
