Man arrested after urinating on steps of Confederation Building

A 65-year-old male is in custody after the RNC responded to a traffic complaint on the Trans-Canada Highway in the area of Allandale Road.

Officers located the vehicle in question and observed the male driving in a dangerous manner.

Officers attempted to stop the driver and after a brief pursuit in the east end of St. John’s, the pursuit was terminated in the interest of public safety.

Later in the day the RNC responded to a disturbance at the Confederation Building and observed the same male from the traffic complaint earlier; he was yelling at people and urinating on the front steps of the building.

When officers tried to arrest the male, a struggle ensued. Officers gained control of the male and took him to the lockup.

He is charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight from police, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, causing a disturbance and indecent act. Police also impounded the male’s vehicle.
