Man Arrested After Throwing Shovel at Police Vehicle in St. John’s

A 40-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly throwing a shovel at a police vehicle during a disturbance call in the east end of St. John’s.
Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence around 10:27 a.m. on Jan. 16. Upon arrival, officers observed damage to a house and a vehicle and learned the male suspect had left the area.
Following an investigation, officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. While police were speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, the suspect exited a nearby residence and threw a shovel at a police vehicle.
The man was arrested at the scene and taken to the St. John’s lockup.
He faces multiple charges, including two counts of property damage, three counts of uttering threats and one count of assault.
