A 37-year-old man was arrested Saturday evening following a reported theft at a business in the Kelsey Drive area of St. John's.

Officers responded to a call at approximately 8:05 p.m. on May 2 regarding a theft in progress.

Police said a member of the public witnessed a man take multiple items from the store before fleeing when staff attempted to stop him. The witness provided updates on the suspect’s location to officers as they responded.

The suspect entered a vehicle, but police quickly located it and conducted a traffic stop in the area, where the man was arrested.

Officers also determined the suspect was wanted on an unrelated outstanding warrant. He was taken to the St. John’s City Lockup and was scheduled to appear in court.
