Man arrested after stabbing incident on fishing vessel docked in Bay Roberts

Police have arrested 34-year-old William Akpalialuk after a stabbing on a fishing vessel docked in Bay Roberts.

On Sunday evening the RCMP were informed that an assault had occurred and attended the scene.

Akpalialuk and another man were in a physical altercation, prior to police arrival, when Akpalialuk allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the man multiple times.

Both men were transported to the Carbonear General Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The victim remains in hospital at this time.

Akpalialuk was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
