Man arrested after reported disturbance on Elizabeth Avenue in St. John’s

A 33-year-old man is facing multiple charges following a reported disturbance in St. John’s on Monday evening.

Police responded to a call around 6:01 p.m. on March 16 in the area of Elizabeth Avenue, where a complainant reported a man and woman fighting.

Upon arrival, officers located a man engaged in an altercation with a woman while in possession of a knife. The man was arrested without incident and taken into custody.

Following further investigation, he was charged with breach of a release order, breach of probation and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in provincial court.
