Man arrested after report of forcing woman into vehicle in St. John's

Just after 7:00 p.m., the RNC responded to a report of a female being assaulted and forced into a vehicle on Empire Street in St. John's.

Police located a vehicle matching the description given. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle at which time the male suspect/driver was arrested and the female victim taken back to RNC Headquarters to be interviewed.

The driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. The 28-year-old male was issued a Driving Suspension and his vehicle was impounded.

The initial assault complaint and the investigation are still ongoing. The male was released pending the outcome of the investigation.
