Man arrested after police chase in St. John's

A 29-year-old man is in custody after a police chase last night on Bay Bulls Road in St. John’s.

Officers first observed a vehicle travelling at an extremely high rate of speed and attempted a traffic stop.

The vehicle sped up and refused to stop for police. The vehicle was located a short time later parked on a nearby side street.

The operator was already wanted by police on an outstanding warrant and was charged with flight from police and issued a ticket for excessive speed. His vehicle was impounded and his driver’s license was suspended.

The man will appear in court this morning.
