Man arrested after impaired driving crash in Harbour Grace

RCMP have arrested a 24-year-old man for impaired driving after a car crash in Harbour Grace on Wednesday.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m., Harbour Grace RCMP received the report of the crash that occurred on Cathedral Street.

A car had departed the roadway and was in a ditch on the side of the road.

The driver departed the scene on foot prior to police arrival but was located a short while later and showed signs of alcohol impairment.

The man was arrested for impaired driving, was transported to the detachment and provided breath samples that were more than two and a half times the legal limit.

He was released from custody and is set to appear in court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving. His licence was suspended and the car was seized and impounded.
