Man arrested after going 120 km/h in a 50 km/h zone in Harbour Grace
The RCMP clocked a driver going 120 km/h in a 50 km/h speed zone on Route 70 in the town of Harbour Grace.
The 37-year-old failed to stop for police and fled at a high rate of speed down a residential street. In the interest of public safety, the officer did not pursue the vehicle.
A few minutes later, the officer located the vehicle on a dead-end street. A traffic stop was conducted and the man was arrested. Police determined that the driver was operating an unregistered vehicle without insurance and was operating the vehicle with a suspended licence, owing more than $7000.00 in fines.
The vehicle was seized and impounded.
The man was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
